McLaren Falls & Park
170 hectares of pastoral and horticultural parkland set alongside Lake McLaren. This park abounds with a diverse range of specimen tree species & bird-life. You now have the opportunity to walk into our native bush to a beautiful waterfall. This park & lake was proudly dedicated to the local people back in 1982 , prior to this it was a Hydro Electric damn site.
Mills Reef Winery
No visit to the Bay is complete until you have visited the local award winning winery. Mills Reef Winery was established in 1989 by the Preston family. Through commitment and dedication to excellence, Mills Reef has established itself as one of New Zealand’s premium wine brands with a particular reputation for outstanding Bordeaux varietal reds and Syrah from the Gimblett Gravels, Hawkes Bay. Not to mention the beautiful grounds surrounding this outstanding winery.
Then its back to Rotorua via the alternate route where you can enjoy some lovely forest & farmland.
