Departure point is outside the port main pedestrian gates. Your guide will be standing outside the exit (port gates) on the grass area holding up a sign board with your names on.

Travel 1 hour to the Hobbiton Movie Set location for Lord of The Rings and associated film trilogies. Here you will be met by your guide for an informative 2 hour tour around the movie set location. Nestled deep in the rolling hills of the Waikato, this location was chosen for its unblemished landscape. Hobbits were fictional humanoid characters who inhabited the lands of Middle Earth according to J.R.R. Tolkeins best known novel – The Hobbit, which was brought to life as a movie by New Zealands very own film director – Sir Peter Jackson. The Hobbiton Movie set which is situated in the midst of a Sheep & Beef farm has now offered you the opportunity to walk through the Shire and imagine yourself amongst the characters. Bilbo Baggins was no typical hobbit, he did not want adventure, but you will have to come and see why he was so reluctant to leave the comfort of the Shire. Hobbits are very fond of food, farming and socilaizing.
At the conclusion of your journey around the set you can venture into the Green Dragon Inn where you’ll receive a free locally brewed ale, cider or ginger beer.
Sadly its time to depart the shire and travel back over the Kaimai ranges to your ship. If time permits on route we will drive along the Marine Parade of Mount Maunganui seaside resort.
NB: This is a very full days itinerary – due to visiting two totally different cities / towns in differing directions, as well as two totally different attractions. There is very little time to sit around for a lunch opportunity, so be prepared to grab something and eat as you travel. We do supply snack packs to get you through the day.
