Description
Summer is a great time to get out into NZ native bush. Are you looking for a short bush walk near you? There is a mature stand of kauri trees nearby and a stunning feature of this short walk is a huge Kauri specimen known as Tuahu, named after its location on an old Māori route that was used as a bridle path in the 1890s. Today join us as we drive to Katikati, visit the historic Kauri Point Reserve & wharf before heading up hot springs road which is very picturesque itself. A well-benched and graded track winds through native forest of young kauri ‘rickers’ and juvenile rimu trees. After 20 minutes, there stands a platform surrounding one of the largest kauri trees in the Bay of Plenty. Just walking in New Zealand native bush is magical with the sunlight filtering through the trees and the sounds of the birds and water flowing, most peaceful.
