Description
We have decided to give you all the opportunity to come on a day’s outing where you can learn a little about marae protocol and etiquette. Many of you will have been on a marae but some of you will not have had that opportunity. Unique to the Māori culture is the marae, a communal and sacred meeting ground that provides everything from eating and sleeping space, to religious and educational facilities. The marae is an institution from classical Māori society that has survived. It is central to the concept of Māoritanga. The marae is also integrative in that all people are welcome as guests and is one institution where the non-Māori can meet the Māori, on Māori terms and come to a better understanding of what it means to have a bicultural society. Come and enjoy a new learning intertwined with storytelling, song, dance, and food.
Includes: Door to door transport, attraction entry fees + lunch.
