Description
Wednesday 11th May – Ōtanewainuku – the chiefly mountain
Ōtanewainuku is 1200 hectares of unlogged forest that has been left alone to become a stunningly beautiful place. Visitors are treated to some of the most splendid examples of native flora including giant Rimu trees. Otanewainuku Forest is home to a variety of native birds, which have been carefully nurtured under the watchful eye of the Otanewainuku Kiwi Trust since 2002. Otanewainuku Forest consists of three different walking tracks: today we will walk just one – the very easy short Rimu track. Watch out for kōkako & north island robins. Travel back to Oropi Hot Pools café for lunch and a hot swim if you would like.
Includes: Door to door transport, morning tea, attraction entry fees + lunch.
