Description
In our days of Road transport, it is easy to forget how important small boats on our rivers and waterways were to proving supplies for our early settlers, especially the gold miners. On this tour we will follow the Ohinemuri River as it flows from Waihi to Paeroa. Stopping for morning tea at a quaint café in the Karangahake Gorge. Next stop is the town of Paeroa, at the newly built wharf. Here you will board one of the historic river vessels and cruise the river as they did in the past. The Ohinemuri river flows into the Waihou River which flows from Te Aroha out to sea at the firth of Thames. However, you will disembark your river journey, at the maritime museum and park, where we will have lunch together and a chance to view the museum and hear about captain cooks visit to the area in 1769.
Includes: Door to door transport, attraction entry fees + lunch.
