Description

Today we travel to Waihi to Goldfield Railway and board the train for the half hour journey to Waikino. The quaint station building is classified as Category II by NZ Historic Places Trust.  This part of rail used to be part of the East Coast Main Trunk Line which ran from Auckland to Taneatua. On arrival at Waikino, the wonderful staff at Waikino Station Café, will see to our lunch requirements. Our driver will meet you for lunch at the café, where everyone can reminisce over a bygone era where train travel and train station cafes were commonplace.
